From June 2007, BoumBoum will also be
offering Brazilian samba rhythm workshops, under the leadership of
Claire Simpson.
Claire is a qualified teacher who has been teaching across the primary age range for 14 years, and for the past 18 months teaching samba in Cornish schools. She is an active member of four West Cornish samba bands and utilises her knowledge and teaching experience to bring the exuberant spirit and compelling rhythms of samba music into her workshops. The workshops are suitable for any age from infants to adults, whether simply for fun or as part of the curriculum, and can be modelled to your needs. Samba is a very upbeat style of music with its strong South American carnival flavour. Most of all, it's fun! No previous musical experience is necessary for any of our rhythm sessions, and you will be able to enjoy playing a variety of percussion instruments: surdos - large drums played with beaters, caixas - snare drums played with drum sticks, repiniques, tamborims, agogo bells, shakers and many more. Sessions can be to suit you, from one hour to a whole day, from one-off sessions to regular weekly classes. All instruments are provided. All BoumBoum workshop leaders carry current CRB clearance and public liability insurance.
